taiji fajin
Wow. I must say, I am amazed that they are behaving that way. People with that mentality will never (as long as they hold that mentality) understand the true potential of taiji. Don't let them concern you. If you are learning good taiji from a good teacher, stay with it. Avoid practicing with them, as they will only hinder your progress. Take some breaths, relax, and enjoy taiji. strangepair03
So much for the spirit of the thing....sounds like seniors to look down on instead of up to....sad. A punch should stay like a treasure in the sleeve. It should not be used indiscrimately.Kyan Chotoku Sensei
Shane
If the head instructor is not aware of this then he/she needs to be. If the problem continues then you might want to move on to another school. You shouldnt have to feel like you do at training. A True Martial Arts Instructor is more of a guide than anything, on your way to developing the warrior within yourself!!!!! Muaythaiboxer
dojo politics effect every art at one TKD tounament i did a clean spin hook kick and knocked a guy out and the students instructer made a big deal on how the KO shouldent count and because his school was hosting the tournament i had to spar the same guy in a rematch (i won by points) but still it really ticked me off. cathal
I do agree on the politics aspect I think. There are too many petty arguments. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
Juniper
I guess whether I like it or not, politics is everywhere. I had been hoping that stuff like this wouldn't occur in a dojo, but apparently it does. But on the brighter side of things, I've been absorbing all the wonderful advice that people have been posting here in response to what has been going on in the Tai Chi program at my school. I've been inspired to take my Tai Chi practice to a deeper place and let go of the "petty" stuff happening around me, and support the daytime teacher in my own way. If anything, I figured out that I can be my own role model and behave the way I feel a true senior student should behave. I'm happy to say that for the first time in a couple of months, I have found joy in going to class again. Thank you all so much for inspiring me to keep going. In another vein, I heard in the past couple couple of days that our head instructor got mad when he found out what the evening senior students were doing and apparently he lectured them and told them to stop treating the daytime people like they were "second class citizens." I ended up not having to say a word to anyone. (phew!) Now, all of a sudden, they are sweet and nice to everyone! (I wondered what was up) Juniper
cathal
Well I'm glad you've gotten some closure, and relief! Things sometimes have a way of working themselves out and I'm glad that he was able to chat with the students. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
