Shotokan is a japanese style of karate, not Okinawan.

 

From my experience, there are 2 main katas that are known for winning competitions - Unsu and Gojushiho-sho

 

I do GojuShiho --- I got first with it at the Bluegrass and 2nd at some local tournaments. Before that I was doing Kusanku , which is like Unsu. Chinto is another good one

Chinto is a great tournament Kata. I guess that's why everyone uses it.

If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point.


Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
