Kind of hard to get in a fight before 3rd grade in a tiny school

I was the kid that everyone picked on in elementary school and middle school. I was beaten up, mobbed, and robbed many times during this period. I began my training in high school. I still got into numerous fights but this is because I attended a school that had a reputation for being rowdy. It was situated in the middle of housing for low income families and almost everyone got into a fight now and then. Watching all the fights in school made me realize that fighting was not a game or in other words, there are no rules in street fighting.

My sister is pretty small from being sick when she was a baby, so I definitely had to jump in there. I'm youger, but bigger. And I didn't want someone my size to take advantage of her ... I just couldn't stand back and watch.

I respect you for doing that. I know people who wouldn't do that for their brothers/sisters. I myself have only really been in 1 or 2 fights. Just scraps really. One was when a lad called my sister too. He just started to call her. She is two years older and im sure if she had herd him she would have stood up for herself. But i wasn't going to let it slide. Basically just confronted him and started punching in the body, no face shots.

Funny thing is today in my science lesson i was messing round with this lad. He tried to punch me but i managed to grab his arms, so then he bit me the little rat!

I was always the smallest kid in school so I had to fight almost every day until I got into high school. Once there I only had to fight two or three times before people figured out that I wasn't going to take their crap. Smooth sailing after that.

hmmm, see i never had the problem of being the smallest so i think that helps. But saying that in my school i don't see a lot of bullying (sp), as in physical bullying. I see people taking the p*ss out of people but not really any violence. Maybe im not opening my eyes wide enough lol.

In school it always seemed like I was fighting. Then as I got into high school it became clear that the fights weren't just "fights" anymore, but real fights where people were getting hurt. Parents were getting involved, and that is when I realized I had a choice, kind of like being at an intersection.

Go one way and I could keep fighting and possibly get someone seriously hurt or killed, or smarten up and stop fighting. Pay attention to what I was being taught in the dojo. So I did the latter, and I'm happier for it.

There were a few a loong time ago, but that was kid stuff, like on the playground. No real intent to hurt somebody, and I don't even remember how they turned out. Mostly I'm just good at ignoring fools who don't know enough to keep their mouths shut.

Both my younger brothers have different methods of dealing with people- such as befriending almost anybody, or being a real smart aleck. Me, I'm more of a loner, which might be part of what drew me to MA.

Had qute a few fights growing up. Then we moved out of the city and into a smaller and "nicer" area of the suburbs, but wouldnt you know it, being rlatively small and being the only bi racial kid in the school didnt help so had my share of fights there. After high school been in a few more mainly because I have developed somewhat of a short temper and was quicker to solve problems with my fists then with my head. by the time I was about 19 or 20, I started taking boxing/kickboxing and studied some Mu Duk Kwan under a guy named Terry Nye. during this time I found kickboxing was a better outlet to let my agressions out..only had a few fights since then and none recently. MA have taught me more self control. When I began Tang Soo Do under Master John Beam, the first thing he told me I needed to change was my attitude and my temper.. It took time, but I realize now most fights can and should be avoided.

Now I belive in using more your head and less fists when you encounter probs with individuals :karate:
