jedimc Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 uuuuummmmmm wing chun http://jedimc.tripod.com/ma.html - what MA do you do, this is my poll.
cross Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 what do you think is the fastest martial art? I dont know about a "martial art" being fast. The better practicioners of most arts are fast though. I think wing chun holds the record for most punches in a second or something like that, but the strength of each punch is a different story.
jedimc Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Kempo's fast http://jedimc.tripod.com/ma.html - what MA do you do, this is my poll.
ShotokanKid Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 TKD kicks are fast "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
busling Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I understand Rick Spain (Wing Chun) holds the world speed punching and world speed kicking records. However that comes down to the practioner(sp?). Your definition of fast would be needed before we could come up with an answer to what is the 'fastest' martial art. Train Hard --- http://www.combatcentres.com/
David Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Deja-vu! I just posted my answer to this on the identically-named topic in the CMA forum. Must resist cross-posting. ...must resist... I nominate Hakka shorthand kung fu styles such as my own southern mantis, as explained in that thread. I don't care how many punches you can do in a second - on a good day, I can deliver 3 or more hits simultaneously eg my right hand and elbow/forearm strike separate targets in one action while my other arm seizes while my right foot stomps some toes = 4 hits . But what it all boils down to is that speed is relative (haha) to the philosphy of the style and it means different things at different times in differetn circumstances. All styles are fast or they're dead. Rgds, David ** Censor-O-Meter: 9 **
Chaz Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Wing Chun, Boxing... Not really a deciding factor though against determined Martial Artists... "One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing to say." - Will Durant
scottnshelly Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 It is all dependent on the practitioner. On a side note though, i downloaded a wushu eagle claw form this morning from ares lite; it had the fastest cluster of hand strikes that i've ever seen. i'll see if i can find what website it came from for everyone else to see.
A. Orstrom Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I remember reading once that eskrima was one of the fastest in the world if you go by number of strikes per second. Whether it is true or not I don't know. The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence, but in the mastery of his passions.Alfred, Lord Tennyson
