The world record is what 9 punches in under a second, or was it 3 seconds...

Anyways, I think it takes immense arm strength to effectivly perform these moves. Bruce lee was not only strong but fast...

Imagine the speed it took to block/hit someone at the same time and doing the tight muscle / loose muscle hit technique...

The man was just amazing. I wonder what the founders of these martial arts were like.. there must have been some great legends..

Same times blocking and punching well ive learned that but I use it often inless a fighter is very quick by bringing it's hand back to thier face quickly

I mostly block then counter a bit after and throw in some combos then maybe see if my oppoinment will throw if not all just keep on attacking

Not really, trapping an arm is the same concept as striking the arm. You hit the elbow to pin it for a second while your other fist strikes. It takes very little strength.

They were just people, like you and me that needed to get a job done.

AO.. your technique is probably in Wing Chun and Kali.

AO, how far down do you pull your opponents

arm down after you cross over?

I pull the arms down and push them toward their body as far as it will go. In some cases, some people who have weak arms or dont put any tension in them, the arms hit their body.

The only defense against this is to recognise what your oponent is trying to do and get out of the way. If he has just started grabbing your arms and has not completed the movement, you need to turn 90 degrees, either way depending on which side he is at, and side step him to disrupt his flow of movement. (Hmmm I hoped I explained that well enough).

In fact our Kancho Sensei has another technique and of course is a 9th Dan and is skilled enough to perform it. He will leap forward, cover your eyes with one hand and pound the hell out of your with the other. He does this so incredibly fast that you dont get time to react. His speed is mind boggling and hes 61.

whie in Tae Kwon Do my instructor taught us a move that included us to reach out with the lead hand as if to back fist our opponent and at the last second (right before they block it) you pull your hand down and trap their arms and do a reverse punch to the bridge of your opponents nose.

You have to execute this very quickly... or else it won't work...

I have used a rendition of that in a tournament fight, only I jumped in the air back-fisted the guy (he didnt block it so i just hit him) then i trapped his arms and as i was coming down from my jump i put a downward punch on the bridge of his nose... naturally i broke his nose and it looked all funny like...

AO, thanks for clarifing that I did not realize that you pushed toward them after pulling.

That explains it.

Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.

Yeah Gorgoth that is the type of move I like to do. Only I don't jump in the process. And I have never broken anyones nose. :weirdlook:

One technique I like is using a round house swooping back hand block with one hand to block a mid level punch and then turn 180 on his side to execute he same move with the opposite hand about where his elbow is to trap and lock his arm.

Its a good position to be in because its hard for him to attack sideways and the only defense he really has is a side kick, which can be quickly swept out from under neath him and thus you foot sweep him to the floor.
