Black Belt Test

I have a very significant test coming up, it is for my black belt! I am having a hard time in school though and I am worried about the two conflicting! Does any one have adivce for me?

Treat your Dan test like it was just an extra-special class. By now, stressing about it won't help. You should already know your forms and other requrements. Just attend class regularly until you test.

This is good advice. My BB test is in less than 3 weeks, and I'm in a similar situation, but in my case it's work and not school...where I work, we have a major project deadline and I have to travel on both the week before and after my test.

 

At this point, I'm just going to class and working out...I know that my technique's not perfect, but as long as I don't get any comments from the other BBs in class (which I hope would say something if I'm really messing up), I'm not going to worry about it.

Thanks for the advice Master Powlette, and good luck on your test too hammer. I hope I do well and that I don't get a big head either, my instructor calls that "Cho Dan Symdrom" Once agian, thanks!

Don't let yourself get nervous... Treat it like a really hard class.

 

How much time do you have until the test?

 

My suggestion:

 

Every class you go to from now until the test.. Pretend that the testing board is watching you secretly. Everything you do is part of the test... from tying your belt properly, bowing in, basics, and hyung. Pretend those eyes are on you all the time, or that your grandmaster could walk in at any moment.

 

Show that you are not only ready for Cho Dan, but hungry for more. Be relaxed, but intense. Focus on the tasks you are performing, and do them to the best of our ability everytime.

Thanks for the advice Tom, my test is April the 7th but my pre-test is this thursday! I just got done with my eassy too so now that I have that out of the way I will try your advice, thanks agian!

I'm glad you got your school work out of the way and can concentrate on testing.

 

So this doesn't apply to you, just kids in general. I just wanted to remind them that you don't HAVE to test at every testing. You can miss one testing and test at the next one without consequences. However, you can't skip school work without consequences. I'm not saying you should drop out of taekwondo for school--I have a tkd school and it would be bad for my business if everyone drops out during the school year--but, if it comes down to finishing a project and going to class, finish your project. Of course, with good planning and study habits, there should be enough time for both. (Yes, I'm also a parent.) I just want to point out to you older school-age kids, that if you mess up your schoolwork, your taekwondo is going bye-bye when your parents get the report card. If you're in college--you're big enough to make your own decision on what is important (unless your parents are paying for it.)

Thanks guys you have been an awsome help! my pre test is this tommorow and I'm extremly nervous so thanks for your help and I will continue to keep it in mind untill april 7th and even farther down the road!
