My first weapon was a double-barrel over and under shotgun. (boy did that make a mess of the dojo... just kiddin'.) Seriously tho, my first "traditional MA" weapon was a bokken. (BTW, the very one I still use today, some 47 years later.)

The first weapon I train with was a practice katana (it was one of those wooden katanas). The first one I got was the bow staff

I could use one too. (at least one that's not so skilled that he will kill me) I think it would improve my combat skills with these weapons. :D

But my very first martial arts weapon was the Bo staff.

I never said it wasn't dangerous.

My first weapon was the nunchaku. My instructor requires that to be our first weapon, since our one and only official bo kata is ridiculously difficult.
