Davison
Are you talking about the phillip porter that is a high ranking judo instructor? Why punch someone when their on the ground when you can just kick them
pressureguy
Who is he? Where does he teach? If he is a local, non-celeberity teacher, then there are slim chances that many of us have heard of him. There are thousands of martial art schools per state/province. Here in the US, if you multipy thousands of schools per state times fifty states, you get an amazingly high number. pressureguy ]===[------------------------>http://www.backyardmartialarts.org]===[------------------------>
scottnshelly
I figured most would be familiar with him. He is the founder of the USMA. very highly ranked in Judo and several other styles. He is based out of California, but has schools in every state.
Davison
I thought thats who you were talking about. Hes taught several seminars on judo at my dojo. He knows what hes talking about when it comes to judo, thats for sure. We were affiliated with the USMA for years but I don't know if we still use that association now or not. Porter sensei has about 50+years being envolved with judo. He's definitly one the one to learn from. If anyone ever has the chance to train with him, I would take it. searcher
I just recently joined the USMA and have been talking with O-sensei Porter via e-mail. I have not had the chance to meet with him in person yet, I plan to do this at the International Training Camp in July. He seems to be very respectful and has built up the USMA to over 6000 members. I am hoping that the USMA will be as helpful in the future as it has been so far. O-sensei was also one of the founders of the USJA before he started the USMA. If anyone wants more information on O-sensei Porter you should go to https://www.mararts.org it is the official website. "let those who shed blood with me be forever known as my brother."
