gojoinstructor Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Hello everyone, I'm brand new to this forum so forgive me if this topic has been discussed already. I am looking for a new gi and have not been able to find any BEAR brand gi's out there. The one that I am replacing, I have had for 8 years. I am looking for something that is comparible to the weight (14oz) and durability of the BEAR Brand. Any recommendations?
Jussi Häkkinen Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Shureido, Tokaido, Hirota, Satori-gi, Kamikaze, Toyo, Juka, Ki International. You'll be happy with any of the three first mentioned. You won't be disappointed with the last ones, either. Jussi HäkkinenOkinawan Shorin-Ryu Seibukan Karate-Do (Kyan Chotoku lineage)TurkuFinland
gojoinstructor Posted February 28, 2005 Author Posted February 28, 2005 I have a Tokaido for when I do demo's or promotion tests, but I didn't want to spend the $$$ on another. My wife would kill me! That is what I liked about the Bear Brands. My last one was just under $100 and was great for daily training. Never heard of some of the brands you mentiond. I will check out the Juka and the Ki. Thanks for the info !!
Jussi Häkkinen Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Check the Kamikaze ( https://www.kamikaze.com ) as well! They're excellent do-gi - especially "America" -model has a killer price/quality -ratio that is widely considered to be a best in market. If your Tokaido-size is under 5.5 (tournament cut sizes, 5'9"), you can also get their KTW -model do-gi for $88 (or under). It's strong uniform with a good material, designed for daily training. Check https://www.tokaidojapan.com for that possibility. Jussi HäkkinenOkinawan Shorin-Ryu Seibukan Karate-Do (Kyan Chotoku lineage)TurkuFinland
Pacificshore Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Also check out the Ronin Brand. They have a 16oz. Super Heavyweight for $59.95....regularly $74.00, just do a search under Ronin Gi. I have one of their middleweights for many years, and it is still going strong, can't imagine how long the heavys would last Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia

I have a Kamikaze gi that is excellent quality and was quite good value for money too. If you're thinking of buying online then try https://www.mawarehouse.com for internet purchase.
