TKDz4dean Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Hi all. Im new to karateforums and also new to TKD, I started tkd about 2 months ago and attend classes 3-4 times a week for one hour. The question i want to ask all you expereinced fighters is... My master mainly for at least 40 mins of the class works our conditioning and has us to kicking drills over and over ..... but he still hasnt taught me the proper way to kick and i find my self often hurting my groin, should i ask him to teach me or just stick with it. train hard, go pro.
Darkfeather Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 ...... he hasnt taught you self respect or how to treat others? I thought thats what you were talking about http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v430/Dark_Feather/Redsig.jpg
TKDz4dean Posted February 26, 2005 Author Posted February 26, 2005 not completley, he has us repeat a code of respect but he only had us do that once in 2 months. for ex. last tkd class excluding all the drills, we did about 300-350 pushups 250-300 situps 300 jumpingjacks 250 speedpunches. train hard, go pro.
Darkfeather Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 .... umm he should completely unless he wants his students to go corrupt and get into lots of trouble =( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v430/Dark_Feather/Redsig.jpg
Shorinryu Sensei Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Hi all. Welcome to karate forums! IMHO, the FIRST thing you should have learned was the proper way to kick before you did repetitions. You're learning bad habits right from the start that will have to be corrected instead of learning the right way from day one. It sounds to me like you're instructor's emphasis is more on aerobics and body conditioning rather than learning the art properly, especially after two months. Maybe you might want to check out a different dojo? Just an idea. if you're not satisfied with what you're learning, then it's time to start shopping around for something that is more of what you want. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
TKDz4dean Posted February 27, 2005 Author Posted February 27, 2005 thanks for your input sensai ^^ Im looking foward to learning how to kick correctly :] train hard, go pro.
champ64 Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 you should talk to you teacher before class starts and tell him you need help and he will help you don't be afraid to ask because if you don't ask you might never kick right
