Sparkey Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 I don't really know anything about Capoiera, but I just had to say that the times I've watch this fighting art/dance I was absolutely facinated. I'm not acrobatic at all and I don't think I could get anywhere near good at it, but huge KUDOS to you for going for it. I think it's beautiful and for SURE I wouldn't want to get caught on the business end of Copoieraists foot!
battousai16 Posted February 24, 2005 Author Posted February 24, 2005 i tell ya, the guys i'm training with are conditioned like mad... the warm up alone nearly wiped me out... it should be great fun "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
ovine king Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 now you understand why i say that if there was fight between an average capoeria guy and an average karate/kung fu guy i'd put my money on the capoerai guy.... earth is the asylum of the universe where the inmates have taken over.don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.
battousai16 Posted February 24, 2005 Author Posted February 24, 2005 i hear ya; those guys are nuts! and i tell ya, the more i look at the monkey, the more i love the crap out of him. he really is the coolest monkey in the world! "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
ovine king Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 it's the eyes isn't it? it has the same look bruce lee does after he does the jumping on the chest thing. then there's that beard of his..... coolest monkey in the world. definitely. earth is the asylum of the universe where the inmates have taken over.don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.
Maddwraph Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 i never really thought about the ribs being exposed. it might be due to the fact that my capoiera mestre always says to keep moving and never really give your opponent a chance to hit you. moving fast and around in the roda is very important when you play. i was once was moving besides the ginga against my master and he gave me a light kick to the rib. it was a light kick but dam that hurt. anyways, best of luck with your training, and keep moving. Im brasilian, but live in the united states. Really enjoying martial arts.
battousai16 Posted February 25, 2005 Author Posted February 25, 2005 second class today, i learned what a lousy singer i am um, what's makulele (sp?)? a bunch of girls wanted to do it but we ran out of time. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Maddwraph Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 makulele is a African warrior dance that you will use two sticks (originally masschettes, but in a class, afraid not). you just learn different moves, doing them in the rythim of that big drum (attabake or something). its quite fun actually, and when you make a roda, you just dacne with each other using the moves you learned. hell of an exercise to. the singing, lol, im not good at, but keep practicing. best of luck. Im brasilian, but live in the united states. Really enjoying martial arts.
CapitalKarate Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Is Capoeira like a martial art form of gymnastics? Looks wicked cool, but not sure how it'd be in todays world against some kind of mma. Joshua Brehm-When you're not practicing remember this; someone, somewhere, is practicing, and when you meet them, they will beat you.
Maddwraph Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 its a fight dance bascially. it involves many gymanstic like moves that can be very hard to do. and never underestimate it, thats how some capoieristas get thier opponents. Im brasilian, but live in the united states. Really enjoying martial arts.
