1kickKO Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Here we are, look at his hands...they are in the shape of a leopard's paw. It is effective, but then again so is a punch.http://www.mandarinkungfu.com/images/leopardstance2.jpg
Flank Posted February 22, 2005 Author Posted February 22, 2005 ah I see now. Thanks 1kickKO. Infact I may join the uni martial arts club, I've always wanted to join some sort of self defence group. I just hope nothing happens till I learn some combat techniques.
Skeptic 2004 Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Yeah...I write really slow and didn't realize others were writing so freaking fast....and I didn't read the part about you being in university, I thought you were a kid in elementary....so my original post has been edited to reflect that. Do you know who Chosin Chibana is...?The Chibana Project:http://chibanaproject.blogspot.com
Flank Posted February 22, 2005 Author Posted February 22, 2005 Have you ever considered being nice to the guy? I'm sure you've heard of killing people with kindness. He'll eventually get sick of you being nice to him and leave you alone, or he'll actually realize what an immature idiot he's been and will leave you alone...God forbid he apologize. Don't mistake kindness for weakness; it takes more strength to extend a hand to help than it does to pull it back and punch. I'm not saying be spineless; stand up for yourself and don't let him take advantage of you (that doesn't necessarily mean a physical confrontation by the way...). But the nicer you are to him, the more it reflects on his poor conduct. While people may have been too immature to notice in high school, people will see it in college. I have tried being nice but I think due to the fact that, he knows if he continues to bully me i'll crack, he purposely continues the harrasment, (I think it's because I reported him to the authorities at highschool). Hopefully he'll change, but I highly doubt it .
1kickKO Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 No problem Flank. I hope you have fun at your martial arts club, what style is it? I know you'll learn to become mentally strong in the arts and on top of being mentally strong your phsyical character and knowledge of self-defense will skyrocket.
scottnshelly Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Punch to the throat was the first thing that came to mind. I guess if you can't reach his throat, maybe a kick to the shin or groin. Of course these should be used as a last resort, first try to talk it out. Maybe he thinks that you are friends and he's playing with you. Explain to him that you don't appreciate the 'games' that he's playing. and contrary to popular belief, violence does solve some things.
Flank Posted February 22, 2005 Author Posted February 22, 2005 I am not really sure what style it is, I guess I'll find out when I join. Is there any advice in terms of what style is best? (I am looking for something that isn't too intense [i don't have a lot of time anyway], but something that helps to defend me incase of an attack. Cheers Flank P.S I am off to the doctors, so I can't reply for a while
1kickKO Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Well, each style has it's own benefits, how about you find out what styles they offer at your iniversity, tell me what they are, thent ell me what you want out of the martial arts, and I can lead you on the right track, but ultimately the choice is yours to make
busling Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 In my experience bullys only respect strength. My suggestion is to attack him viciously. He will not expect, you probably won't win. However he will respect you for it. Show no fear, he will back down from then on. He will take the path of least resistance and find someelse who is weak to pick on. If you stand up for yourself (victorious or not) you make for a hard target. You have to remeber that he is picking on you, to make himself feel better about his own insecurities. He wants to feel strong and powerful. Make yourself a hard target and he will find someone else to pick on. Train Hard --- http://www.combatcentres.com/
