Teiydo Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Has anyone else heard of this style? I just found it and it's headquarters is in San Jose, Ca. http://yangskuksuldo.com/ Is the Grandmaster a person closely related to KSW Grandmaster? Just kind of curious.
taiji fajin Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 While this is only from word of mouth, Kuk Sul Do is founded and run by a man who practiced Kuk Sool Won, but then had a falling out with Kuk Sa Nim (Grandmaster of Kuk Sool Won) and so went off to teach his "own" style. Pretty much, he teaches Kuk Sool Won under a different name and is not a part of the organization. Fetch Daddy's blue fright wig! I must be handsome when I unleash my rage.

Teiydo Posted February 19, 2005 Author Posted February 19, 2005 Has anyone else heard the same? Thanks again.
SBN Doug Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 I seem to recall the same thing. There are a few outcasts out there, that just didn't want to play by the Grandmaster's rules any more. However, that's the same in most other arts as well. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
ZR440 Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 With the exception of KSN Doug, I'm sure there are a lot of newer KSW practioners here who aren't aware of the political battles years ago when the art was just forming. It even reached up into Canada. But just as Doug said, most all arts seem to go thru it. Mine did recently. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
taiji fajin Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Maybe it was just with my instructor, but the political battles that happen(ed) in Kuk Sool seemed a very taboo thing to talk about. You could only get small pieces of information from him (and his peers), and had to rely on most of your information from the people not in positions of authority, or from researching online. Actually, part of that research is how I found this site! Fetch Daddy's blue fright wig! I must be handsome when I unleash my rage.

tommarker Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 There is a Kuk Sool Do school here in Columbus, I believe. I always presumed it was a splinter group of some sort. I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
SBN Doug Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 I don't know about that one for sure, but he doesn't look familiar....Master Lee began studying and mastering the ancient arts of Sado Moo Sool (Family or Tribal Martial Arts), Bulkyo Moo Sool (Buddhist martial arts), and Koong Joong Moo Sool (Royal Court Martial Arts) while still in high school. Interesting they reference the exact same 3 Kuk Sa Nim based Kuk Sool Won on, though. I know HRD and KSW were supposedly benefiting from one another at one point. Also, KSW and Hapkido almost merged a couple decades ago. Thus spawned Kuk Sool Won Hapkido, which I believe still survives today in Korea.
