TKD_McGee Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 TKD claims some 30 million members I believe... Karate organizations claim the same number if not more... I personally think that they just say that in order to appeal to people. "We have the most members in the world! join us!" Which Martial Art actually does have the most active members? Official / Unofficial Do unto others, as they done to you.
SBN Doug Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 To be honest, I don't care. I've found what works for me, even if there's only two of us doing it. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
Jack Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 Probably Karate, then perhaps with Judo and Tae Kwon Do in close persuit. Thats just my opinion JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
Tobias_Reece Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 Hi all I dont know which MA has the most members, but I do know one with a very small amount. Matayoshi Okinawan Kobudo has just over 350 members worldwide. It is headed by Shihan Mikio Nishiuchi. Oh yeah, and I hold a 5th Kyu in this art () Just though some people might be interested to know C ya Tobias "You Are Never Given A Dream Without Also Being Given The Power To Make It True. Piastre Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 I don't think anybody really knows, nor do I think it is really possible to find out with any degree of accuracy. I've seen reports where tkd claims the throne with x million registered practitioners, and then another report where karate claims twice that amount. But I'm sure there are millions of unregistered martial artists of all styles. There are over a billion Chinese for example, and I'm sure that not ever Chinese martial artist is registered with an organisation! Whoever claims the throne is using it for some free and easy advertising, nothing more, just as tkd-McGee said. [ This Message was edited by: piastre on 2002-01-31 14:01 ]
kicker Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 well i think that the most popular art would be something that was the best But for me it really doesn't matter which art is the best or most popular I care if i like the art that i am in and having fun But I know you were just wondering but for me theres no need to there all good when you do your best it`s going to show. bustr Posted February 1, 2002 Posted February 1, 2002 I'd guess boxing or wrestling. TKD may have alot of members but for the most part it can't be considered a MARTIAL ART.
