isshinryu5toforever Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 double katana? I have heard of the Musashi system of using a katana and a wakizashi at the same time. Other than that, nothin. ninelivesarentenough Posted February 14, 2005 Author Posted February 14, 2005 i've never heard of it used traditionally, just creative forms
isshinryu5toforever Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Do you know who Miyamoto Musashi was? Google him or something. He's a famous Japanese samurai. He who knows others is wise. yamesu Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 https://www.kendo-world.com/forums look around, youll find the answers to your question. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents. We are borrowing it from our children."
searcher Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 If you want a freestyle type of double katana kata you should go to Black Belt Mag. and look around I know they have one. If you want traditional you will never find it. Niten ichi ryu uses wak. and kat. in their forms. "let those who shed blood with me be forever known as my brother."
taiji fajin Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I know that Kuk Sool has a double sword form (at the very least), but you won't learn it for awhile. Starts with open hand techniques/forms and works its way up. Might be worth looking into for you, though. Fetch Daddy's blue fright wig! I must be handsome when I unleash my rage.
searcher Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Do the KSW sword forms use the longer Korean sword like in Haidong Gumdo or do they use the Katana size? The korean sword is roughly 4 inches longer than the katana. "let those who shed blood with me be forever known as my brother."
yamesu Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 There is no set length for a Katana. My brother and I own four different Katana, and their all of differing lengths, the smallest differing by just under 4'' from the largest. So, to say 4'' longer than a Katana isnt a real good indication of length. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents. We are borrowing it from our children."
