Taku-Shimazu Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 Everyone loses a fight at one point in their life, its human nature,no ones perfect. That is true to a certain extent but I find that if you get knocked down or lose however that happens, If you just keep getting up and refuse to lose they will get tired before you, it always works for me even if they are a better MA than you, they think you are determined beyond defeat. How do you define a loss? The cool summer breeze passes me by.
Kempohands Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 How do you define a loss? I define a loss as getting involved in an unnecessary conflict. If the fight is absolutely necessary (it takes A LOT to convince me of this) then that usually means the winner is the one that walks away with the least physical damage done to her/him and the loser is the one that received the most damage from the fight (ie. getting knocked out). ShotokanKid Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Don't worry about getting in a fight, if you do, don't think about it now, it'll just make you loose sleep Don't get in a fight "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
Oopgrub Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 i understand waht you are saying. I am in high school too, but i have little man's disease... i now look at it differently, its better to fight and lose than let someone pick on you Ju JitsuKenpoPressure Point FightingCapoeira
Kempohands Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I must repeat myself, most fights in high school are absolutely unnescesary. Just because someone is picking on you verbally dosen't mean you should fight them. Especially as a MAist. Look at my sig, that quote is something I live my life by. Now, I don't let people push me around, I just make it very clear I don't enjoy someone's behavior and I carry myself with a lot of confidence. People don't mess with me even though I have a rep for not fighting because of this confidence. It will take a lot to get me to fight with someone, especially while I'm still in high school. mai tai Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 i dont condone street fights but but in ring fights yes. i am scared to lose. it is not the lose but having to hear about it later from guys that dont even fight. i set up the fight with bravado but most of the time before the event in the locker room im scared shitless, not of pain but loseing. going up to the ring the guy always look tougher, faster and more skilled. if i could turn and walk out a sissy tunnel along the way i would. after the bell rings im ok and i start to enjoy myself.
cathal Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 The other guy's taunts and ribbing will only hurt your feelings if you *want* them to. Try to be more stoic about it, and just realize that they are all young, and this is part of life. Its easy for me to say "shrug it off" and "ignore it" because I'm not there hearing them say those things. But I was, when I was younger, so I know how you feel. I got through it by just forgetting about it, and laughing when they laugh...it really isn't that important in the grand scheme of life. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
Treebranch Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Oh high school. Life is so boring in high school that fights seem glamorous. Proving your manhood by fighting, that's great. If your a MA's you don't need to fight people at school, that's what your training is for. MA's is for protecting yourself and your loved ones from "physical" harm, not insults. Let fools be fools and let the wise men listen. Be a man, don't fight. cathal Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 I agree .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
