dtstiachi
I refer to my instructer as Dr. *****. He is also called headmaster or grandmaster of the school. I used the term sensei because I figured it was a term that many people would know. "The journey of a 1,000 miles starts with but a single step." AngelaG
My TSD dojang, when shaking hands, we had one hand under our elbow (open) and shook with the other, bowing at the same time. Did you know that there is an energetic reason for this? It completes the circle of energy meaning that the other person will find it nigh on impossible to squidge your hand with their handshake, it also works if you reach across and grab them just above their elbow as you shake hands! karatekid1975
Wow. That's interesting. I didn't know that. I was told they did it like that because it shows that you have no weapons and are respecting the other person. Or something to that affect. GhostlySykanRyu
Sensei means "teacher" in Japanese. We simply bow with a closed fist in a hand cupping that fist. To condemn the art of another is to condemn your own as well. We all have the same origin.

vertigo
we simply bow with both hands at our sides. This is the same way I bow... I've never heard of any specific way we are supposed to bow in our dojo, so I just kinda picked this one up from the people I trained around when I first started. (on a side note, good form jakmak52 nice trophy too ) "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." - T. S.
