bushido_man96 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 MMA in the Olympics would be great. I think the pankration movement pushed for it, but it got out voted by something else. They were really hoping to get it in for the Greece Games.I think MMA has really gained a fanbase over the last few years. It may not be as popular as wrestling, but what makes wrestling (pro) so popular is all the talk and showboating. I don't think MMA needs that. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Concur totally, Bushido. Personally, I think the Olympics could eliminate synchronized swimming to make room for MMA. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
Rainbow_Warrior Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 I don´t think that MMA could get into olympics...many people with mental problems think that MMA is a carnage. And about synchronized swimming , I just would leave the girls....I don´t like to see guys doing that stuff ´´ The evil may win a round , but not the fight ´´
baronbvp Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 No way! Guys do that too? What is wrong with people? MMA isn't any more brutal than boxing. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.

They are putting focus on the safety of the fighters, since the fighters help to make the money. I think they are trying to make the sport look more attractive to the public, thus paving the way for the Olympics some day. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 I hope that works and they are successful. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
throwdown Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Go to Japan and Europe and you'll see that kickboxing is HUGE.Whenever K1 has a tournament going on in Japan the Tokyo dome is completely sold out. Where as here in North America you're lucky to sell out every seat in a hotel gala location.

Kickboxing and Muay Thai MAY have a POSSIBILITY of getting into the Olympics but again that is doubtful.
bushido_man96 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 MMA will never get into the Olympics. Sorry to shatter your dreams. Why do you think they won't get into the Olympics? Could you elaborate on your feelings towards this a little more? I would like to hear your explanation.TKD, Judo, Boxing, and Wrestling are all Olympic sports. And the way the IFL is run, they are doing a good job of putting a really good looking product out there, and are giving it the more local, amatuer flair that the Olympic Committees could be looking for. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
James Bullock Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I wouldn't say never...Look how the sport of MMA has grown since the early nineties....Anything is possible... James Bullockhttps://www.combativesciences.comhttp://www.myspace.com/warrior_athleticshttp://combative-sciences.blogspot.com/
