ZakariRu Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Bruce lee has the vertical hook (round kick sweeping upward) Karate calls this a cutting kick. A hook kick. (inside out) And an outside in hook kick. all are illustrated with the ball of the foot stretched, striking with the ball or the instep page 84 mentions using the ball of the foot for attacking the shin knee or instep. regardless of kicking type. The text from page 80 on does not clearly display anything. I may be mistaken about if he refers to the round kick as a hook kick and a hook kick as an outward in hook kick. But that does not make alot of sense.
yamesu Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Im pretty sure you nailed it. p.83 details more striking tools for these types of kicks. ie-instep, shin. roundhouse kick = hook kick. outward in hook kick = reverse hook kick. diagram p.82 Refer to p.74 however, and note the terminology for spinning hook kicks = hooking heel kick. BTW: Sorry for hijacking the thread. Ill stop now. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents. We are borrowing it from our children."
cjburns77 Posted February 24, 2005 Author Posted February 24, 2005 I did not realize the terminolgy could be so different.. I apologize for the confusion.. thank you for the help though.. I will live my life at level 10... Every Day, Every Time, Without fail, No Exceptions!!!
