kataman Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 I am a blue belt, one month away from a brown belt and one year and a half from a black belt. but like I say I don't train for belt color I train for the streets. I don't train for belt color I train to survive on the street
Kieran-Lilith Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 I'm a yellow belt, end of this month I test for orange. Must get rank...I like the work out, I like training, but I love power. isshinryu5toforever Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 "JC Penny $3.95." Couldn't resist. Black belt since November 1997. That makes me feel old, and I'm only 19. Shorinryu Sensei Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 "JC Penny $3.95." Couldn't resist. Black belt since November 1997. That makes me feel old, and I'm only 19. So that would make you (taking off shoes to count on toes) 11 or 12 when you got your black belt? My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
krzychicano Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 If you were only 11 or 12 when you got it did you truly appreciate being a black belt? Just curious. What the superior man seeks is in himself; what the small man seeks is in others. - Confucius

Souldburned Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 Orange belt in shotokan... started about 6 months ago.. (wow! time really does fly. i'd love to see a tape of me back then - so I could laugh at myself ) wow, all the ones that started about 6 months ago are still white belts , including me, I mean our sensei, really want us to be good and to compete in tournments, not to mention that all the other white belts are 7 year old childrens.
June1 Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Yellow belt in Shotokan. I'm guessing that I'll be grading by the beginning of March. Here's hopin'! And, krzychicano, I think that an 11 or 12 year-old would be happy about the black belt, since it really is an accomplishment, but would probably not understand what it truly means on a more spiritual and mental level as opposed to a practical level.
