Highler
When i tie my gi i tie those little straps on the inside to keep the jacket shut and tie my belt tight. But...when i start warm up and stretching etc, the front starts opening up and looks very untidy and i'm constantly fidgeting with it and tightening my belt. Does this happen to anyone else?? It might be because i only have a lightweight suit and it's nothing flashy just a basic gi. Any ideas? 'The cat taught the tiger everything he knows. Pacificshore
Tie better knots, or maybe your uniform isn't the right size, or maybe it is because of the lightweight material. A old training buddy of mine added velcro to his gi jacket in place of the ties. This was done so that in sparring, whenever he got his jacket grabbed, it was like a tear-away-jersey:D Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
krzychicano
Make your belt knot tighter and also the straps on your do bok tighter. I had the same problems at the beginning. 1kickKO
I have the same thing and I have a heavyweight gi, but of course it stays in place more htan a lightweight..but my lightweight did good as well, it moved all the time, it's totally normal. Try tying those knots TIGHT.
Jussi Häkkinen
Actually... Loosen your belt a bit. That way it won't "grab" the do-gi every time you rotate your body. Belt should hang loosely over the hips, not squeeze your waist. Tie the ties of the do-gi properly. That should help. Aiko87
If you are still having trouble with your gi, you could always sew a small velcro piece unto the gi and the collar near your chest and it should then stay shut. A lady at my dojo always has trouble with her gi top so she finally decided to sew a 2 inch piece of velcro and it worked very well.
1kickKO
Or you could just spar naked...but I don't think your training partners would enjoy that too much.

Jussi Häkkinen
Another thought......do you tie your belt above or below the straps on the jacket? Depends on jacket. Usually above. However, I've used both ways (depending on jacket) and haven't noticed any difference in my jacket's tendency to stay shut. 1kickKO
Yeah it's usually not your belt, just do the velcro thang..that seems to work with a lot people, or you could just duct tape it shut..haha it DOES fix the world you know.
