AnonymousOne Posted January 29, 2002 Posted January 29, 2002 Religion and philosophy will not save you on a battle field. Are you a Warrior or a Monk? 7th Dan ChidokaiA true combat warrior has to be hard as nails in mind, body and soul. Warriors are action takers and not action fakers. If you are cruising, make time for losing
YODA Posted January 29, 2002 Posted January 29, 2002 ...... neither will unarmed combat skills or the ability to dance with oriental farming tools. You MAY have the edge with a decent M16A2 Combat Rifle in your hands and a trusty old Browning High Power 9mm in your belt kit. Strap a L96A1 Sniper Rifle to your back and you have things pretty well covered. ZR440 Posted January 29, 2002 Posted January 29, 2002 Very true. As the old saying goes...never bring a knife to a gun fight. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
Aikidoka Posted January 29, 2002 Posted January 29, 2002 Interesting signature AnonymousOne. You are however, insecure enough to need vindication for your decision not to use a signature, because you felt it important to tell everyone why you didn't have one. Philosophy and mindset are vital on the battlefield, as an acceptance of death and an objective and ruthless outlook are vital for self preservation in war. Zen is what made the samurai such exceptional fighters, discipline and conditioning is what keeps modern day soldiers alive. I must presume as well, that you are ignorant of the Buddhist sohei, or warrior-monks of fuedal Japan, and the soldier monks of the Shaolin temple. Warrior and monk are not mutually exclusive. I do not have the arrogance to claim to be either one, for I have never been in battle nor am I ordained into any religion. _________________ Sitting silently Doing nothing Spring comes And the grass grows by itself [ This Message was edited by: Aikidoka on 2002-01-29 11:55 ]

SaiFightsMS Posted January 30, 2002 Posted January 30, 2002 There are many different types of battlefields. And not all are physical.
kicker Posted January 30, 2002 Posted January 30, 2002 well the answer to your question would be a warrior for sure when you do your best it`s going to show. "If you watch the pros, You will learn something new"

YODA Posted January 31, 2002 Posted January 31, 2002 "Was this an attempt to try and provoke me?" Dunno - but if it was then it seems to have worked For the record - my "Very well said Aikidoka" was in referemce to his last paragraph, not his apparent dig at your "Sigfile of No Sigfile" Am I a warrior or a Monk? Neither - I am a Jedi, like my father before me YODA2nd Degree Black Belt : Doce Pares Eskrima https://www.docepares.co.ukQualified Instructor : JKD Concepts https://www.jkdc.co.ukQualified Fitness Instructor (Weights, CV, Circuit, Kinesiology)
