Shorin Ryuu Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 The biggest obstacle to learning Japanese by yourself is that you will not have a chance to speak it with others that understand what you are saying. My recommendation is to look up Japanese cultural organizations in your area and get in touch with a Japanese speaker (preferably a Japanese) and they can direct you towards better resources or even serve as a conversation partner. They usually appreciate people trying to learn the language. As far as extra stuff or books, there's plenty of things online you can find.
