I first got into it for, most importantly, a healthy, active hobby, and also for self-defense, but that wasn't as important. Now I don't think I could bear not to. It's so addicting!

I'd just like to add that in the uk, not many people have weapons. If they have knives then you are taught how to deal with them anyway.

Cool but any one had mention anything about the spirituel side of martial art.Is anybody still belive in the way of the ancient warriors. :bawling:

from a self-defence perspective, a martial artist will have an advantage. even a little training goes a long way, from a confidence perspective.

 

From a lifestyle perspective, every Cho Dan i talk to about martial arts is on a quest to better themselves. Kick higher, punch harder, more accurately. Its a discipline.

Tradition does have it's effects on MA's too..people are drawn to that kind of stuff sometimes...depending on the person. Some people like the discipline, etc..

i just love it... i dont know why but ever since i steped on the wrestling mat and did my first kick in a dojo i have put my whole life it to martial arts. my friends and family think im nuts cause i train 5hrs a day every day. but i just cant get enough of martial arts. mabe some of you guys have that same feeling.
