I have never taken any martial arts but I want to sign up for either Ninjitsu or Kung Fu..both are taught at USC. I would like some advice on which is better. I am 5'2 female about 110lbs..and want to take something that is both mentally and physically challenging and has self-defense. I am sure both cover this but what are the real differences between both martial arts? Any help is appreciated :) :)

Ninjitsu is from Japan, Kung fu is from China, you sould be able to find many info regarding these two martial arts in internet really easy. Also there are many styles in Ninjitsu and in Kunf Fu. However, many Ninjitsu art and styles were distinct.

I dunno about (My Jong Lo Han) kung Fu, and never heard of DUX ryu Ninjitsu. For Ninjitsu, I would said, if it's not recognized by Bujinkan Japan, then it's lineage is questionable.

USC teaches Ninjitsu????? Wow.

I would stay away from Frank Dux if I were you. From everything that I have heard he is under fire from folks claiming he lied about his military background and various contributions to the martial art community.

My choice would be kung-fu.

Agreed/ Frank Dux has made many claims over the years, and has NEVER been able to prove any of them. In legitimate martial arts circles, he's considered as phony as a Bill Clinton $3 bill. Besides, I'm VERY skeptical of ninjitsu anyway as being not quite legitimate. My personal opinion please people...don't jump all over me! lol :D

I also have not heard of that system of kung fu, but then I don't travel in those circles.

Not all the Ninjitsu die out. Bujinkan is one of Ninjitsu that get to survived till modern day.

As a Bujinkan student, I will be the first to say that it is not all ninjutsu. It has some elements of ninjutsu(2 Ryu). But the core is traditional jujitsu.

If Dux Ryu Ninjitsu is the ninjitsu school being offerred, I'd avoid it all together- Dux is a fraud.

As far as Ninjitsu in general, its not bad if you live in feudal times, but there is a difference between Ninjitsu and Tai Jitsu. Tai Jitsu would simply be the unarmed combat, whereas actual ninjitsu would be the combination of that with weapons training, movement training, poison making, and all that other jazz.

Any idea what kind of Kung Fu? Links, if available, could help.

Do a search on Google for him...you'll find tons of stuff I'm sure. He's the guy that the VanDamm movie "Kickboxer" was "supposedly" based on. Won the super secret "kumite" Problem is...he's never been able to provide one shred of proof about it.
