YODA Posted January 27, 2002 Posted January 27, 2002 Hi all Here's a quotation that means a lot to me. Does it "speak" to you too? "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you"...Friedrich Nietzsche YODA2nd Degree Black Belt : Doce Pares Eskrima https://www.docepares.co.ukQualified Instructor : JKD Concepts https://www.jkdc.co.ukQualified Fitness Instructor (Weights, CV, Circuit, Kinesiology)

Joecooke007 Posted January 27, 2002 Posted January 27, 2002 This is very interesting... It is very true. You should not allow yourself to become to compelled to do thing that they might overcome you. Boards don't hit back. -Bruce Lee
Prodigy-Child Posted January 27, 2002 Posted January 27, 2002 i know im kinda thick but i dont know what the hell u are talking about You can boo me if you want, You know I'm right!-Chris Rock
SaiFightsMS Posted January 28, 2002 Posted January 28, 2002 It is something only those who have been pushed hard will be able to appreciate I think. Much of who and what we are stems from what we see and what is done to and around us. There are many forms of monstors in today's world. And many types of abysses.
YODA Posted January 28, 2002 Author Posted January 28, 2002 LOL! Let's see if I can help "part the fog" for you Prodigy-child Many of today's martial artists are getting more & more into role playing & "street" oriented training. I see people shouting & swearing at each other in class in an attempt to mimic what happens on the street. When they gaze in to the abyss - the mind of the street thug - they maybe risk becoming exatcly that which they seek to defend against.? Make sense? SaiFightsMS Posted January 29, 2002 Posted January 29, 2002 Perhaps even another way of interpreting something like Karma.
YODA Posted January 31, 2002 Author Posted January 31, 2002 "Perhaps even another way of interpreting something like Karma." Yes - certainly! The monster lies in all of us I feel. Some of us ignore it, others yield to it. True martial artists acknowledge it, control it, and yes, sometimes release it if the need arises!
