traz
I was thinking some Aikido, some Judo...and then some kind of striking art, like Taekwon Do for its flashy kicks. Like a midget at a urinal, I'm always on my toes
iolair
I've not much personal knowledge of Aikido ... but I just found and watched this demo, since several people suggested it... http://www.met.rdg.ac.uk/~sws99dsc/rdgaikido/multimedia.html --> download top link on page (12MB) (BTW, the 30MB Steven Seagal vid on that page is NOT worth the download time, the quality is terrible) Pretty impressive - I know the stuff on there is obviously staged, but Aikido looks a better bet than Ju Jitsu or Judo for the multiple bad guys he'll have to face. I need to do some more Aikido research before I can write about it ... though I've just looked up there's a club about 25 mins away, so I guess I could force myself to go and train there a little So, now the striking art(s) to combine it with.... 1kickKO
Oh, that was probably just a kata. Aikido itself is in no way shape or form staged...you can really do that on a street...but it takes years and years of training to get as good as that. A great website that teaches you everything you need to know about Aikido is aikiweb.com.
iolair
What do you think of Aikido and Capoeira as a combination, in terms of the correct amounts of showiness and effectiveness? (Showiness IS important, I guess, in that our crimefighter needs to make the right psychological impact on the criminals. But it shouldn't be at the expense of effectiveness.) 1kickKO
Capoeria is a good art but that and aikido I don't know how good that will look together..it's all flips and stuff but the styles aren't really something you can make a natural style. What about aikido and something like muay thia? If not mauy thai what about boxing, kickboxing, or something striking wise..you know liek a satnd up art...if ya want showiness, then what about aikido and sword fighting? Or Phillipino stick fighting? Or if you're not into the weapons but into really fancy stuff what about aikido and drunken kung fu?
Son Goku the monkeyking
I think that A style for a super hero should be Jeet Kune Do, because it has the strong points of many other styles of martial Arts. And it is also manly for fighting street fights and punks on the street so you would beready for anything. I would say that I am Bies like many others on this post but with my 13 year old 8th grade mind, I have yet to find out what that word meens.
