adrenline Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 roy jones jr beating a man a class up kinda argues against what you're saying and what we've been trying to tell you thats one isolated example, which when compared to ALL combat sporting events and matches in history, is INSIGNIFICANT at best. 99.99999% of the time, people fight there own weight. Hence why we have weight classess. This isnt to say that a smaller guy, couldnt beat a bigger guy, as it has happeend many times....but overall bigger guys can get away with having less skill. smaller guys cannot (unless there very very strong). my website: http://www.liquidfission.commy forums http://www.liquidfission.com/phpbb
Drunken Monkey Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 yes, it is just one case where it happened but it still states the case for a smaller man beating a bigger man. like i said before, a bigger man doesn't mean a hard fighter. the bigger guy will not always win. the point is, you can't just look at the size of the guys and pick the winner. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
JerryLove Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 You are hacking a straw man... no one (at least recently) has claimed that the bigger guy will always win! The argument is weather size has an impact; and I think it's sillyo to think otherwise. To make an extreme example, would you rather get attacked by a tiger or a housecat? https://www.clearsilat.com
Drunken Monkey Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 sometimes you really do seem like you like to argue... ok, would you rather get attacked by a big tiger or a really big tiger? or lets take your example. there are various factors that would affect my answer. i would rather be attacked by the tiger if it was in advanced old age, lame, blind in one eye, and hadn't eaten in a month. and that's exactly my point. the original post asked for our opinions on whether size matters. my opinion is that it does but we also have to accept that size isn't the only thing that affects the outcome. it is only ONE factor that decides who MIGHT win. like i said, the big guy won't always win, the small guy won't always lose. or the big guy might lose, the small guy might win. or the big guy might win, small guy might lose. take your pick. that's all i've been saying. i only have one real question and that is: do you agree? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Treebranch Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 Yes size matters. Ask most women. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"

theswarm Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 size matters you just need to know how to use the fact you are smaller (get in close and low) or bigger (distance yourself) to your advantage otherwise you'll get cleaned up
PrideampPoise Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 Yes it matters. Yes its only one factor of many that matter.
Natural Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Size matters well a bit i got kick by a 7'2 foot and Oh, that felt hard but, I win am so fast. Size what???? THE TECHNICAL OPONENT ALWAYS WIN 9/10. A karate punch it is like a dasvasted stick blow. Instead, a blow of Kung Was is comparable to a lash with a chain that has attacked, allaltra extremity one ball of ferro
Tal Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Of course size matters. Get two guys of identical skill (this is kind of hypothetical). One guy is big and strong, the other is small and weak. Big guy wins. There's this 4th kyu guy in mu jujitsu club and he's massive. He's 6'8" and very strongly built. No one in the club can beat him in grappling matches, and I mean no one, ever. That includes a pair of sandan black belts who are very skilled. Size may not be the deciding factor, but it sure as hell matters. shotokan karate nidanjujitsu shodankendo shodan
