BlackI Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 So if the smaller guy has the advantage on the inside doesn't that neutralize the big guys advantage and put them on equal footing. Like previously stated it is a matter of skill. In search of the Temple of Light
TeamHavok Posted October 29, 2002 Posted October 29, 2002 Size? LMAO! Not a problem for me...Im 5'8....If I get in a fight with someone bigger than me, well...lets just say its nothing a compound fracture to his knee wont cure.
ramymensa Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 So are we saying size and sex matters??? .... Did we ever come to an agreement here? Well let me put it in another way One of my instuctors was female, same height but had an "advantage" of almost 30 kilos. I couldn't sweep her leg in a million years. Needless to say she almost made my fly The other female instructor is smaller than me, and has got 10 kilos more than me. It's hard to put her down too. And my best friend is as heavy as me and smaller with 7 cm. I knock her down whenever I like. It's good we are all friends And after being put down quite friendly by a heavier female and not being able to treat her the same way ... I say again SIZE DOES MATTER. That's why they made Godzilla World Shotokan Karate
Thai_Kick Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 To the people that believe size dosen't matter, then please explain why... Boxing, Kickboxing, Judo, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and MMA all have weight classes? Limits Are Not Accepted. They Are Elbowed, Kicked And Punched.
KickChick Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 .... um, case closed then(?) ask any woman she'll tell you "size matters" ... (sorry) It's universal .... the bigger you are ... the more "advantage" you have .... face it!
G95champ Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Its nice to be big lol (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
ZeRo Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 me and this guy i know garry (he has no training) were talking about this. this guy is big for his age! 6 2" and i am small for my age 5 2" so we thought we'd see if his bigness was goin to out do my technique. we were doin no contact (we were outside a science lab) and deffinatly i could get past his punches and get shots in. we had fun. i agree that size doesnt matter it just helps.
Thai_Kick Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 i agree that size doesnt matter it just helps. XpOiSoN FrEeX, Can you please answer my question...To the people that believe size dosen't matter, then please explain why... Boxing, Kickboxing, Judo, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and MMA all have weight classes? Limits Are Not Accepted. They Are Elbowed, Kicked And Punched.
ZeRo Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 size makes a big difference, but to someone who has no training, against someone who has trainining, skill and technique make the more difference. but to answer your thai_kick, they have weight classes to make it fairer. Because you need to be very skilled before weight doesnt make a difference up against someone who is also trained. sorry if i contradicted myself at all. i know what i mean.
psychospaz Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 hmm, I dont mind being bigger than most everyone I spar against. Seems to be a bit of an advantage. If they wanna do infighting, I can always just start grappling, and being stronger and more skilled in that also doesnt hurt.
