1kickKO Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Gumbi, I know what ya said...I didn't mean to say that you were talking about no other styles have tournies...and yeah the gracies sparked it but now that they have introduced it into the UFC it's everywhere.haha
Gumbi Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 I would if I could, What I ment is if they did a 5 on 5 match in a huge ring or something if they have done that then tell me if bjj won cos I never seen these shows where I live. They used to do this back in the pre UFC days in Brazil. It was common for a karate school/kickboxing school to challenge the Gracie Academy, so they'd set up vale tudo events with each school bringing their best fighters.

TJS Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 If your talking about 5 vs 5 at the same time then no I dont think that has ever happened...proabably a few times in the streets of rio but thats about it.
1kickKO Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Anybody practice any other type of jujitsu but BJJ?
Davison Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 I study Hakko Denshinryu Jujutsu. Why punch someone when their on the ground when you can just kick them
1kickKO Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 K just checkin' if everybody was BJJ..it seems to be taking over the boards..haha
Gunyo Kogusoku Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I train in koryu jujutsu. One of the koryu I train in is Araki-ryu Gunyo Kogusoku (now you know where I got my handle ) it teaches tactics and techniques of close combat and grappling from the Sengoku-jidai (Warring states period) which include armed as well as unarmed grappling methods.
