Kansas just passed a conceal and carry law for guns. You have to go through an 8 hour training course, and there are restrictions as to where you can carry, but the law is there now.

I have had interesting talks with people about the passing of this law. I ask some people and they say, "I don't like it. You just make it legal for criminals to carry the guns now." And I reply, "I think it is a great law, for those of us who want to do the training and carry. And when you talk about making it legal for criminals to carry now, I say this. The people who want to carry them, are going to carry them anyways, regardless if it is legal or not, or if they don't go through the training."

I think this allows the honest individual to get himself caught up on even ground, so to speak.

No, not for several years. I do have a CCW and frequent bad parts of town at odd hours because of my job. I spend alot of time doing community outreach and crisis interventions. I also have a 5 year old stepson whos father has threatened to kidnap him on more than one occasion. None the less I believe that all honest citizens have the obligation, much less the right to protect themselves and their family from those who would do them harm. If you live in one of the 48 states that permit concealed carry and are qualified to carry then it's a great idea to do so. I study the martial arts to protect myself and carry a gun to protect those I care about.

On a side note, if you are carrying a weapon that is not legal then your a criminal. The end result of your recklessness is that the honest people of society will face further restrictions on their access to the means of self protection. If you want to carry a weapon, most states have a provision to allow you to do it legally.

bottom line is that the bad guys will carry guns no matter what the laws are, so any state who denies its citizens' right to carry is putting law abiding people at a serious disadvantage.

If it works, use it!

If not, throw it out!

Well, I carry a few things at all times...

1. A whistle around my neck that magically summons 10 ninjas to fight at my side

2. An RPG (i hide it in my back pocket)

3. My ruger superblackhawk single action .44 magnum (when I get confronted by an outlaw that challenges me to a duel)

4. I drive around in my A-1a abram tank

5. Flint lock pistol (a weapon against any pirates)

6. My armored belgium horse and a 10 foot lance

I carry most of these at the same time, except sometimes the flint lock pistol (only carried when near a coast line)

Do not demand what you can not take by force.

You only need #1 (certainly it will help you out for #5) 8)

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
