Just curious, but I know we each have our own dojo, or dojang, or whatever it happens to be called (sorry, haven't been around long enough to learn more names) and they each have their own style. But some dojos etc. don't follow the general style. So what's the general style of your system?

Our system, Eugue-Ryu, I actually learned more about tonight. The system is usually...well, it's usually a hard core, beat out the weak, no lose, no pain, no whining sort of place. I'm in one of the nice dojos, though, it's still incredibly strict, but we can joke sometimes, and it's not as...how to phrase it?....intent upon beating you and breaking you before you get your belt.

I lease space from a local fitness center so i can teach... Not your typical dojo but nonetheless its a place to teach.. My classes are very laid back, I am not strict at all, but I don't have to be really. I very fortunate to have students who are there to learn and not goof off. I invite my students to think for themselves and ask me as many questions as they can possibly think of. As far as conditioning is concerned, everyone comes in at a different level of shape. We do 30 pushups a night, a walk in the park for some, not so much for others. I tell my students if you can't do 30 I don't care. If you can only do two, do two... but next time try 3... I push my students and i am a stickler for proper form and technique, but everything I demand is in a way positive way... I know that I have things to work on as a teacher but I am very good at getting people to want to work hard and push themselves.... Thats all I ask... My whole theory is: I am going to be at class working out. If anyone wants to work out with me thats great... If anyone wants to leave, thats cool too...
