we usually make sure they have pretty good control before we turn the lose.

we also pair new guys up with black belts so when they start to use to much power we remind them that its not nice. lol

Pain is a great teacher.

Has anyone considered telling their sparring partner to

"take it easy you are hitting me too hard???"

If that dosen't work you have 2 options.

a) Don't play with him anymore. Choose another partner.

b) If you continue to pair up and the person still is pounding you after

you ask him to ease up..... Blast him as hard as you can to the body.

Do not hit him in the head or grion this is unsportsman like.

Repeat until the offender gets the picture. :brow:

Or you could do the really smart thing and mention it to your instructor.

Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.

already tried "you don't need to hit this hard." And he seems to be more proud of his strength. Can't chose other partners, cuz it's a small class. So the only option left is hit him harder, but in the same time I don't want to really hurt him. That's why I need suggestion on how to control power, and so far everyone has been really helpful.

You do karate right? Well go a little " 'jitsu" on him next time when he tries to blast you, just take his punch and give him a good hip throw..tehehe...that should do it...and once on the ground say "you know, if ya didn't hit me that hard, you wouldn't be laying there right now". :bigwink: :brow:

Like I said a good sweep, throw, or leg kick will teach many a young stud to chil out faster than any words will. Nothing like PAIN as a teacher.

Or you could just bring a semi-auto and threaten their lives, but I don't think that would make good with the rest of the people in class that particular day..or any other for that matter.

uuhhhhhh...semi-auto??? that's tooo much man, plus just like old martiart films were saying "There is no honor" in that. I think just let him fall is good enough.

No honor in that? Hey fighting is fighting, ya never said how you can fight...buuuttt if your stle doesnt include weaponry like the army, then *sigh* I guess you could trip him.
