Muaythaiboxer Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 just break the wrist and walk away... lol believe it or not that guy went to the same high school i do now for a short time. but seriosly i think this mcdojo get your blackbelt in a week crap is going to be the death of teakwondo in america. i go to one of the few good TKD schools i know of and the ATA is constantly trying to get rid of us here in town they wouldent even let us compete in there "open" tournament. it took me five years to get my blackbelt and i hear the ATA gives them out in like a year. Fist visible Strike invisible
BJJShotoshe Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 sure you can. you order a black belt, sit on your duff a week, until it arrives in the mail, and start and indepent dojo and teach everyone nothing useful shodan - ShotokanBlue Belt - Jiu-JitsuWhoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care the themself without that law is both. For wounded man shall say to his assailant, if I live I will kill you, If I die you are forgiven-- such is the rule of Honor.
Muaythaiboxer Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 thats horrible. Fist visible Strike invisible
1kickKO Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 But it's true..just think how scary it is to know there are people who have probably actually started their own dojos from video training.
kataman Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 But it's true..just think how scary it is to know there are people who have probably actually started their own dojos from video training. That why you need to test your sensei,Ask questions, even go around and talk of your Sensei. I remember have gone to a seminar 5 hours from where i live and i met a sensei that i don't know, just by the crest on my karate-ki he told me that my Sensei use to be really good in fighting That made me prould of my dojo. I don't train for belt color I train to survive on the street
krzychicano Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Those kinds of ads are just useless and people that fall for this kind of advertisement are not in it for the art, they just want to tell people they are blackbelts. What the superior man seeks is in himself; what the small man seeks is in others. - Confucius
1kickKO Posted February 10, 2005 Author Posted February 10, 2005 Right on the dot, or else they just believe the mumbo jumbo and want to learn to take down a 647 lbs man in 3 seconds.
seersin Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 I trip out on tha video advertisements that say something like,Super secret fighting techniques finally revelaed.I see em' in blackbelt all tha time. ISAIAH 53:5
1kickKO Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 Yeah same here, haha it is hilarious.
markusan Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Learning is all about making mistakes and having someone competent correct you and guide you to develop good technique. The video can show you what to do but it can't tell you whether you are doing it well.
