soccerghost Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 have you ever gotten seriously injured in muay thai? I reject your reality and substitute my ownTime is a valuable thingWatch it fly by as the pendulum swings
1kickKO Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 I see, well I'm hittin' the sack, but good luck and stay safe.
mattyj Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 TaeKwonDo is all based on flashy kicking techniques. Another great sport-martial art, that derived form Korea. It is some use in street-fights, but not much, because fanc y smancy acrobatic kicks won't save your life (no offense to all those TKD'ers out there) but many of the kicks are worthy of a street fight. BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! i think im going insane with all this stereotyping. man the commercialism of tkd has got to be one of the worst things in the martial arts world ever. while wtf and sport styles may be largely based on flashy and impractical techniques, traditional tkd skills actually have far more hand techniques than kicking ones( i know itf is like this), and use about a 50/50 balance in sparring. sorry i just hate seeing the same "dont do tkd, its all flashy kicks, no application" absoloutely EVERYWHERE. I wish sport tkd had been called something different so this stereotyping didnt have to happen.
ravenzoom Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Yeah me too I have something to say. I'm sorry 1kickKO, but you're also wrong about Judo. It is not just about throwing and sweeping. At my dojo (and I'm sure in many others) we work extensively on the ground, with chokes, arm bars, etc. And you seem to say that because it's a sport martial art it is not effective. Bull, Muay Thai and kickboxing are also sport martial arts and they are very effective. You seem to overgeneralize a lot, you should learn about styles before making comments.
