Shorinryu Sensei Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 I don't understand what question you're asking us here. Could you please rephrase the...uhhhh...question? My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
KUNTA KINTE Posted January 24, 2005 Author Posted January 24, 2005 Which do you prefer? The right to keep and bear Arms.
Shorinryu Sensei Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Oh, well...since the throwing star really has no value other than as a toy, I vote for a knife. Much more versatile. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
Taku-Shimazu Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 What do you mean toys? Stars are far better as once they leave the users hand they cannot be touched and they have a higher chance of htting as knives are half handle but stars are multi bladed on all sides. The cool summer breeze passes me by.

Ohhhh....well, you didn't say anything about THROWING them...just which ones we liked BETTER! That's why I asked you to rephrase the question origionally, because it didn't make a lot of sense. Still...I'd take a knife over a star any day. A knife couyld (despite what the movies show, most knifes don't penetrate enough to hit anything vital) penetrate and kill if you throw it, whereas a shuriken won't. A shuriken will only penetrate maybe an inch...probably less. Besides, anybody that throws their weapon at an opponent is desperate and not to smart. By throwing it, you've lost your weapon and given up control of it. Chances of hitting someone with either in a fight is slim at best, and in the case of the shuriken, what's to prevent a person from taking the shuriken out of his chest when you hit him with it, and throwing it back at YOU? Not as likely with a knife. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
ovine king Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 y'know, i've seen a lot of things that show that shurikan were used in the hand more than they were thrown and they're a useful bit bigger than what people see in the comic books. of course, i could be wrong...... can anyone confirm this? earth is the asylum of the universe where the inmates have taken over.don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.
krzychicano Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I prefer the knives anyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the superior man seeks is in himself; what the small man seeks is in others. - Confucius
fangshi Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Not that I have ever had the opportunity to learn the shurikan but I do enjoy my throwing knives. The only thing is I have no idea how effective they are as a weapon. The target I use never moves so it is pretty easy to hit the target but never in a millon years would I try it on a person. We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.
seersin Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Throwing stars are not all that big,I haven't seen a whole lot of people hold em' in hand for fighting purposes either. ISAIAH 53:5
