mskickerusa
I am testing for my First Degree black belt in a few weeks adn i am kind of nervous. I am 15 and have been doing Tae Kwon Do for 6.5 years. I know that i have ot spar and break boards, along with doing all of my forms adn kicks, but i was told i have some surprises coming. Has anyone else been told this?? I am curious what some oter "surprises" have been. I know that i will not be able ot find out exactly what is coming, but being slightly prepared would be nice. Thanks to all of you!! Lauren
soo_bahk_Oz
look at it this way - if you weren't ready for the grading, you wouldn't be doing it, would you? Obviously your instructors have faith in you and your ability. I wouldn't be scared, though nerves are natural. I'd be more concerned if you weren't nervous ------------------------------------------Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan
gheinisch
Yeap, you already know everything you need too or else you wouldn't be testing. Just relax and do your best. Good Luck! ladyj
To say you are ready for this level means you have trained hard, put the time in, and learned the techniques that you need to progress to the next level. My advice to you is to remember that being a black belt does not mean being perfect it means you are striving for perfection. Most people wouldn't even try...have faith in yourself because your instructor does. Good luck.
Nick_UKWC
Best of luck to you, I'm sure you'll be able to cope with whatever they chuck at you "...or maybe you are carrying a large vicious dog in your pocket." -Scottnshelly
SloMo
My only advice would be to just do your best and to put in you best no matter what they throw at you. Most testing the mental. If you couldn't do the physical part they wouldn't be testing you to begin with. Have confidence in yourself, be serious but don't lose your humor either. During my first dan test my instructor told me to do a "Chicken Strike" I had no idea what it was, this was the 2nd day of testing so I was dead tired. So I started moving my head back and forth like I was pecking something with my nose. My instructor knew I didn't know the technique and was curious as to what we would do when asked. Needless to say I was wrong ( go figure ) but I gave the people grading me the best laugh of the test! Good luck! pineapple
Any surprises won't be anything that you weren't taught so don't worry about it, just think about all of your training and you'll do just fine! What works works
searcher
If your instructor told you that there would be some suprises for you He/She is only trying to get in your head. Take a deep breath and give them all you have, it WILL be enough. "let those who shed blood with me be forever known as my brother."
Kaminari
I know it has been mentioned before, but I'll say it again, the majority of the test is mental. You know the techniques and forms, for you to be testing shows that you're ready physically. The best of luck to you!
