Any of you planning to take long trips?

I've been studying more and more on aikido every day.

But i had promised myself when i was younger that someday i would move to japan to study more there.

I have a dream of a long trip that I'd like to take... but I'm not planning on going on one anytime soon. Got no £££!

In my dream trip, I'd fly to the USA and Canada and visit friends that I have there, then move on from there to the south Pacific and work my way around the Pacific rim (much in the manner of Michael Palin in his travel documentary). Then I'd go back to Africa and visit friends and family in Tanzania, Ghana, Kenya and Zambia. I'd also like to go diving in the Red Sea and spend a few weeks just chillin' in Zanzibar. Finally, I'd fulfil a training ambition and go to Japan to train in Aikido and Karate and China to train in Wing Chun and Taiji.

Anyone wanna lend me some cash so I can go? :D

In reality, I'm planning on visiting the east coast of the USA sometime in 2005, but I have no definate plans yet.

at any rate, have fun getting pummeled with american history while you're in the east coast. by the time your done you'll never want to hear about the stamp act or benjamin franklin again :P

Well for a huge karate/jujitsu competition I am heading to Rome and Ireland for 10 days with Team America to compete for the 9th Irish Cup in June. We'll be spending half the time in Rome seeing the sights and vacationing, then the next half of the trip in Ireland seeing the sights then to compete.

Well, let me know when you do come over. If you're in the north of England we'll have to meet up! :)

if you're after wing chun training, I'd say you're better off going to hong kong, especially if you're from one of yip man's students' lines.

yip man's old school is currently being used by a lot of his old students as a base and they all seem to teach from there as well.

believe it or not, this place is even noted in the time out hong kong city guide so have a look the nest time you're in Waterstones.

The major Hung kuen school is alos only ten minutes from Yip Man's wing chun school class and it might be worth going for a visit as well.

back to wing chun, here are another two major schools in china, namely yuen kay shan and pan nam but i don't think they have many schools outside of their own areas.

as for my own little dream trip.... right now, that one involves a mountain or twenty...... it's not somewhere i want to go but more like something I want to do.

My family is planning on taking a 2 week trip over to Saskatoon and back from where we live. That's the west coast of Canada to the middle-to west part of Canada for all you non-Canadians.
