kzshin Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 Ninja and Samurai are very very different. And I think the only real Ninja style you can learn in modern day is Bujin Ryu, which is combination of multiple styles and weapon arts of Iga. Koga, Fuma, and other styles were extinct. And most likely the only authentic place you can really learn the art is in Japan. I know there are some place in US teach the arts, but I doubt they are authentic enough. How long to learn it?? just like all martial arts, whole life. There are other info online, it's not hard to find with google and yahoo.
Shorinryu Sensei Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 So many questions. Keeping in mind here that this is just my personal opinion, I believe that yes, there are still ninja's in the world, and yes, they are still training and teaching...but you won't find any in schools with signs proclaiming "Ninja School of Akron, Ohio" or elsewhere. Keeping in mind how incredibly secretive the ninja were, and the mindset of traditionalism of the Japanese people in general, I believe that there are small groups of ninja keeping a very low profile in Japan...possibly elsewhere, that hand down the training to a select and exclusive few...probably just within the family, and that in no way are they teaching it to the general populace....ANYWHERE....especially in America. Yes, I know about Master this and that that can trace their ninja heritage back 32 generations...and that's fine. That doesn't prove that master So-and-Who is who he proclaims he is. He just traced his family tree back that far. If I had the interest, and my family kept better records of our ancestry...I'd be able to trace my heritage back 32 generations also. Maybe I could claim that I was the direct ancestor of King Louis XVI or something of note. My opinion anyway. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
wingedsoldier Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 actually, though the ninja came from japan, probably one of the first ninja to appear in that region are the mosuh nanren of china. The original ninja.
fangshi Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 actually, though the ninja came from japan, probably one of the first ninja to appear in that region are the mosuh nanren of china. The original ninja.I have heard that as well. Were the ninja schools primarily the first budddist martial artists in Japan? We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.
fangshi Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Hey wingedsoldier , not to hi jack the thread but what is mental ninjutsu ? I would love to here about some of the basic concepts of it. We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.
Master Jules Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Shorinryu Sensei.........I agree with your post 100%. ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
Jbone1 Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Yes good post sensei. Anyway I would like my questions answered. He hasn't responded. "What's your style?""My style?""You can call it the art of fighting without fighting."
ovine king Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 ninja and samuari aren't always as different as you think. earth is the asylum of the universe where the inmates have taken over.don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.
kzshin Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Originally, Generally and technically, Ninja and Samurai are DIFFERENT. Of course, just like many things, there are few exceptions, however, in General, Ninja are not Samurai.
ovine king Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 not always. whilst samurai were a social class and as such almost an entity in itself, ninja could be anyone, including a samurai. ninja only describes one who is doing covert work. sometimes, that person needs some training in order to help in that covert work. that is ninjutsu. not all ninja know ninjutsu. not all who know ninjutsu are ninja. a samurai asked to go and assasinate a rival under cover would be a ninja. a shop owner asked to keep track of one of his customers would be a ninja. of course there were specialist people who's sole job was to carry out these kind of jobs (ninja clans). then there's the shinobi...... so, ninja and samurai aren't always as different as you think. earth is the asylum of the universe where the inmates have taken over.don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.
