ncole_91
Hello Everyone I have been doing Shotokan Karate for a couple of months, and my Shihan has been teaching us katas called Kiso Gedan, Kiso Age and Kiso Shuto. Does anyone do these, if yes, can you describe them to me? They are just katas for beginners, and next belt we start to learn heian shodan and etc. Thank You in Advance, Nicolas
Cheradenine
I cannot believe it. I just wrote out a description of each of the kata (which took me a while) and the bloody internet just crapped out while posting. Thus; here lies a pretty much worthless post. I tried!! Perhaps later I'll try it out again.. sorrys..
ncole_91
That really sucks, I usually just do it in like WordPad, then save it, then copy paste. Would the description be like this? Kihon Kata Kiso Gedan 1.Start out facing north. 2. Turn west into front stance, with left leg in front, and do low block. 3. Step forward (still west) and do a lunge punch 4. Turn to east (180 degrees, turn right) into front stance with right leg in front, and do low block. 5. Step forward (still facing east) and do a lunge punch 6. Turn to north (90 degrees) into front stance with left leg in front, do low block. 7.Step forward (still facing north) do lunge punch 8. Turn to south, (180 degrees, turn right) into front stance with right leg in front, and do low block. 9. Step forward (still facing south) do a lunge punch 10. Yoi! For Kiso Age, do the same thing, same stances, but instead of low block, do rising block. For Kiso Shuto, do back stance instead of front stance and use knife handblock instead of low block and spear hand instead of lunge punch. If so, can you tell me if you do empi #1, 2, 3 ? Thank You in Advance, Nicolas
Killer Miller
I've been burned quite a few times like that on long posts. I always do a "Cntrl C" after highlighting the text (which is Windows command for copy to the clipboard). If the Internet or Application go wacko on me, then I just resubmit the post by pressing "Cntrl V" to paste the text back into a new post... - Killer -I cannot believe it. kzshin
That Kiso Gedan sounds like the short version of Taikyuku shodan.

Shorin Ryuu
They are just katas for beginners, and next belt we start to learn heian shodan and etc.Just some food for thought (chew carefully). If a master does a beginner's kata, like the kihon or heian (pinan) kata, are they really beginner's kata? ncole_91
Maybe it’s not a beginner’s kata, but I meant that it is an intro kata. (I think) Ones that are shorter I guess to get us used to the fact of a kata. I am just mainly conserved if anyone knows these?
Shorin Ryuu
No, that wasn't what I meant. Keep on chewing, I suppose. Martial Arts Blog:http://bujutsublogger.blogspot.com/
