isshinryu5toforever Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I didn't know we were talking firearms, bows, etc. as well, or else my list would go on and on and on. He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.- Tao Te Ching"Move as swift as a wind, stay as silent as forest, attack as fierce as fire, undefeatable defense like a mountain."- Sun Tzu, the Art of War

Weapons I carry and/or play with regularly. two .40 pistols (Glock 23 and 27) a trio of tactical folders (a Kershaw, classic Spyderco, and a $5 knife I picked up in a pawn shop) I'm hoping to track down a good fixed blade for carry https://www.clearsilat.com

Taku-Shimazu Posted January 19, 2005 Author Posted January 19, 2005 Thanks for all your feedback, it makes interesting reading! Also I wasn't really talking about guns, just Martial arts weapons. (But please continue talking about them if you were in the middle of something) The cool summer breeze passes me by.

Kicks Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Also I wasn't really talking about guns, just Martial arts weapons. Hey, MA weapons are good, but when all else fails... Remember the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indiana Jones was confronted by a large Arab guy with a sword? Indiana just took out a pistol and shot him. You know why he shot him? He was actually supposed to do a long fight scene, but Harrison Ford (Indiana) had diarrhea that day and wanted to make it a short scene. Spielberg said the only way it could be shortened was if Indy were to pull out his gun and shoot the guy. The crew laughed and that is how they filmed it. And that's how legends are born. when you create the world's largest trailer park, you're going to have tornadoes
Andrew_Patton Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Whew, the weapons I have bought, well I mainly loan them out for dojo use, but they are mine so; 16 pair of nunchaku 3 pair of sai (one shureido) 4 pair of kama (one shureido, various no-names) 3 tonfa (various no-name brands) 12 bo 4 wood kama 2 ueku 3 katana (all no-names) several bokken and shinai
Taku-Shimazu Posted January 20, 2005 Author Posted January 20, 2005 'Kicks' Indiana Jones? uh no. Guns are (no offence) just an easy way to kill someone and anyone could do it. Most Samurai would have considered them to be cowards weapons. The cool summer breeze passes me by.
Kicks Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Guns are (no offence) just an easy way to kill someone and anyone could do it. My point exactly. when you create the world's largest trailer park, you're going to have tornadoes
