Taku-Shimazu
It started by some guy saying How do you fight a guy that flails his arms? Anyway I feel have nothing more to say on the matter except: Is the man who trust his life to his 'Bat' a man when unarmed? It is ok to use a weapon but not to depend on it. The cool summer breeze passes me by.
IOM Combat
Wotcha, IMO either get a good flinch reflex strike trained (so that you fire it off and apply BAR before he can settle in) or, if u've missed that chance cover up and get in close before doing whatever works for you. That tends to keep you inside the effective range of a flail. Generally once you get past the bar effect on yourself its easy enough to control them. Taku-shimazu, what on earth are you on about. A tonfa is a fun weapon and can be effective but do u just carry them out in the open? If so then chances are you are breaking the law and if not and say, you keep them in a weapon bag, then they are no use because you will have to get them out to use them. Then again, you say you are very good with them but the only way you can describe them is using characters from a computer game? Dodgy. Rock-fght
tonfa man I do NOT play stupid video games and I dont waist my time infront of a TV all day and thats a choice I make (I watch liiiiike... 0 hours every day). And I think your tonfas are way too big to carry around if ther 2 base ball bats connected. whatcha gona doo stuff em in your pocket? No offence but I know what those games are and, thus, I think you are 20years old to...about 13 ( My age, but my maturity and honesty is much higher) sense you related to video games intead of experience. and also you must of played too much video games to think you can take 8 babseball thugs with your tonfas. and not experienced in real life. You need real life lessons. i dont even think a tonfa'er can take 2 base ball bats all theyed have to do is get you from different angles (like behind and in front, I dont care what you say, you dont have eyes on the back of your head!) also the fact that if the tonfa is two pieces they would be held by one hand each making them harder to controll and the batters would be slugging the crap out of you because they had 2 hands controlling one peice allowing potential of both hands. so you have 2 people with 4 arms and 2 brains against 1 with 2 arms and 1 brain odds are youll die. most of your trianing is probobly in your room mindlessly swingging the things or trainig the wrong way. Sorry buddy but you sound like a troll, and I dont think you are a master either. How long have you been training and how long of that training have you spent playing soul calibre ?? BTW; video games are destroying our youth and giving them false confidence (somthing like the master beats up 8 base ball batters with his tonfas that he somehow stuffs in his pockets.) and also this hidden garaffe crouching frog that cra.p is giving us confedence that if you know how to do a little martial arts you can kick everybodys butt, well my freind, YOU ARE WRONG!!!! trust me, i know. like a kid at school thinks because hes a blue belt or what ever and showes his dim whitted freinds his karate skills and I feel sorry for him because in a real canfrontation with a real thug he will be crushed. watch, ill be flamed like crap by the tonfa man. just giving some dose of real life fighters and enybody that reads this. peace out Rock My fists are fire,My arms are brimstone,My legs are steel,My heart is the furnace. KungFuLuvva
not to offend anyone, but in my experiance, karate/tkd punches are MUCH MUCH easier for me to pick apart, move in, and destroy than wild, untrained attacks due to there nature. i mean the whole wild flailing thing may seem rediculous to us, but its actually an awesome question if i think about it, because im pretty sure that about 90 percent of the kids at my school would do that from the fights that i've seen. i asked my sifu what do you do when someone comes really crowded at you, he gave a very simple answer that works for me, just stay on your center line, and chain punch through, the punches often act as blocks, and once your in there, you should be able to finish him. if the fight goes on, he'll definately settle down and stop comming at you like that. getting off the subject a little...fights at my school are hilarious, i've seen some guy beat the crap out of someone in a lunch room because he thought that he stole his bacon, i've even seen a riot escalade out of a game of UNO. age:16style:wing chunDon't try to predict the outcome of a fight. just let nature take its course. cross
You can edit the second post anytime you double post rather than making another post just to say "sorry double post" meaning you actually did a TRIPLE POST!!!!
IOM Combat
Kungfu luvva, You are close with that one. Karate etc punches tend to be easier to deal with a. because they are what we are used to dealing with (as most of us start in some form of traditional ma), b. they are generally used in a way which expects a defence (repetitive training of locking the arm in place and holding position during a response etc will do that) and c. thay are predictable. The swing on the other hand is unpredictable, doesn't stop and isn't expecting a set response from you. If you don't ge the flinch BAR in then something along the line of a straight blast is prob the best bet, as once you kill their momentum the flailer is pretty much knackered. This is where a bit of heavier contact sparring is handy (eg boxing) just to teach you the basics of covering up. Like anything self defence related keep it simple. Once you start adding in complex malarky it will all go to pieces. Just hot em hard and hit em well as soon as you get the chance. Don't get too bogged down by overly complex techniques.
