aevans410
I'm getting ready to order a new gi for training. The sizing charts I have been seeing have me kind of confused. According to height, I should wear a size 6. According to weight, I should be wearing a size 8. Im not too overly obese (I am however a little big). I do carry around a good bit of muscle. When picking a gi, should I concern myself more with the height chart or the weight chart? Im thinking more the height chart, maybe even going with a size 7. Dijita
Do you know anyone in your class about your size? Find out what size gi they have.

aefibird
What size do you currently own (if you have a gi)? If you have a gi already then go with the same size that you already have, unless it doesn't fit properly. If you don't have a gi then see of you can try some on that belong to people at your club. If not, then go with the weight chart. Better than your gi is too long in the sleeves and legs, than too tight round the middle. At least you can always get the sleeves taken up if they're too long. Personally, I always buy a half-size or even a size larger than I need. Firstly to allow for any shrinkage and also for comfort! "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." Grenadier
What brand of gi are you ordering? Many of them differ in terms of how they're cut. One might give you more shoulder room, etc. When you ask your fellow classmates about gi sizes, remember, brand X versus brand Y may use different sizing charts. Just as an example: http://www.dojowear.com/Sizes.htm In general, it's better to err on the side of caution. At least with a larger sized gi, you can shrink it with some hot water washing, and / or hemming.
Super_Coo
I got my size 6 Kamikaze Medium Weight Gi and I was also a little worried since I'm 5'10" and weigh 160lbs. My buddy's the same height but weighs 205lbs and they fit the both of us just fine. Out of the bag it seemed HUGE but wash/dry it and it'll shrink perfectly! Pacificshore
I've personally gone with weight vs. height. This allows for more roomier fit Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
