i am lyking Wing Chung Kung Fu but i am think that it is all about close range and has no kicking or anything and it might not be very practical on the street or if im being attactked.

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a great style for self-defence. WCKF is usually described as 'no-nonsense' and 'logical' - both of which it is. There are kicks in WC, but it is hand work that is more predominant. There is also grappling and ground work, but this is not usually trained in by new students. I'd say that Wing Chun would be a great system for you - go fer it! :)

Just find a good school. Not a big one, a good one. The art doesn't matter all that much. One where you can see the intent in the movements of not only the teacher, but the students. One that you can imagine enjoying going to class and doing the techniques. Then do that. Seriously, as long as you're training hard with resistance and intent and good instruction, you'll get to be effective - and in any case, fighting skill isn't all it's cracked up to be. It doesn't take that long to develop, it's a skill that you're unlikely to need much, and it won't hold your interest for long.

Not impressed with Wing Chun? Check that out when someone's well trained in it: http://www.fightauthority.com/movies/accion3.wmv

I'm not sure what that video is supposed to prove exactly, but it certainly has low quality going for it.

Wing Chun is a good striking art, but if you want to learn it properly and use the actual forms for combat, you're gonna have to have a lotta patience... this applies to most gungfu styles. Pick-up boxing if you have little to no striking experience --it will help if you're concerned about street fights.

I agree, that video didn't impress me much either. The guy has an idea of what hes doing, but look at how the other guys came at him. If a real fighter (say, boxer) came at him he'd have to change up his game plan a lot to survive.
