aefibird
In Karate class I'm usually thinking when Sensei is talking "this is gonna hurt" because he usually gives a little speech/lecture before a demonstration. As I'm usually the dojo "Demonstration Dummy" I get 'beaten up' pretty much every other day. lol "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." supergroup7
When Sensei starts to talk, I'm usually thinking "THANK YOU so much Sensei! Now I can breath, and recuperate for the next set of exercises..."I always find myself caught up in what Sensei is explaining.. and I start to forget how tired, and sore I am... until I start moving again. My spirit is never daunted by training, but sometimes my body begs to differ.
June1
Heh. Reminds me of... well, me. Nowadays, during strenuous classes, I usually think things like, "Oh, God, I'm tired! I want water!" Or during running drills, it's more like, "Gaaaaaah! Come on! Enough!"Yeah, it's depressing, but all the work is worth it in the end. Kool Kiais: ICE! DIE! KITES! Kieran-Lilith
During stance training, as I've discovered, my thoughts are, "Please, Sensei, let us stop. Sensei, have mercy upon us poor weaklings. Let us up!" When he does, and starts talking about how his Sensei trained him (with another person standing on his back while stance training....eep!) The thoughts go "Good and great and wonderful Sensei, we love your way, can we stay with that way, we love it, great and wonderful Sensei, please continue to have mercy upon us..." If you can't tell, I'm not good at stance training. It's really unpleasant for me. But I managed it! And a whole 1 1/2 long class afterwards too! June1
Congrats! Yeah, I really don't like the horse stance much anymore. It really, really burns my legs. Kool Kiais: ICE! DIE! KITES! fallen_milkman
I usually don't find my mind drifting. My sifu doesn't lecture, we hold discussions. We all ask questions, he answers them, and makes his point. Fits my way of learning very well. 36 styles of danger
karatekid1975
Last night I was thinking "Yay!!! I got a good partner" (for one steps). Him and I, we do one steps for real, just short of pounding each other. We actually hit each other (except in the face) with light contact. So if one of us misses a block, we get hit in the tummy. Well, I missed and he thumped me in the tummy (he went a little harder than light contact on accident) and I wasn't expecting it. I didn't have my tummy tightened. Then I was thinking, "I'm not missing anymore blocks." LOL Laurie F
mindsedgeblade
"Must not pass out..."Of course, last night was no ordinary workout. I just got my green belt! A three hour test including bag rounds, self defense, mat fighting, sparring, and jump kicks. Needless to say, I'm a little sore today, but very proud.
