Treatment of Taliban prisoners - shaving them because they h

I am at a bit of a loss to understand why some are complaining about Taliban prisoners who had lice were shaved head and face to help control the problem. These violent men who were members of a deadly organization and waging war against women and children seem to have rather bizzare ideas of what should be done to them.

They have been cleaned up, given clean clothes, fed, given medical care. Should they be given back their lice?

Is having lice preferable to having a beard?

I am confused again.

Since the attaks, I have read a bit on Islam, and I remember reading something about beards...haven't you ever noticed that a vast majority of Muslim men have them? It isn't right to change someone because of religion...Would you make a Jewish man remove his yarmulka? Or force a Catholic woman into an abortion? Well, lice is so minor...it's called treatment shampoo ... so in that case, I would absolutely be against shaving them...Now I'm off to look up that point of Islam...see ya.

I'm am so sorry to everyone that reads this thread and thinks that I am cruel but I gotta say what I gotta say. The taliban doesn't deserve religious, lawful, or even human rights. Some people are now gonna point fingers at me and tell me that I'm horrible and that everyone deserve human rights. Killing thousands of people?!?!? How's that for denying human rights?!?!?! They shouldn't even be considered humans. Why do people kill each other!!!!!!! :kaioken: :bawling: :dead:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And I am sure Joe that many agree with you.

Remembering from the news reports that so much had/has to be flown in to Afghanistan they had razors and shaving cream, but not all the extra gallons of water proper treatment of the lice would have required.

If a yarmulka worn by an Orhodox Jew contained lice I would ask that it be removed for treatment. And then returned after proper disenfection had taken place.

In the same matter if their beards are so precious they to will return.

So if you deny one of human rights, because they denied others of human rights, how are you any better then them?

I mean for example; the Taliban dont respect other religous beliefs, but if you dont respect their religous beliefs then arent you just as bad as them?

No offence to anyone, but I dont really see the logic. I mean two 'wrongs' dont make a right do they? Why stoop to their level ?

Ofcourse thats just my opinion...

As I see it.....

The taliban prisioners have better living conditions

held captive by us than they did when they were out killling and opressing. We tend to take the rights of those fighting against our way of life and freedom into consideration more than we should.

They do not belive in our freedoms or our rights.

They only want to destroy what our many diverse peolples have fought to achieve. I know that we should serve as an example to the world of what they too con achieve, but if we are to continue as a society we have to make a few sacrafices due to the nature of the times we live in. If it means that a few hundred killers and enemies of the civilized world have to be inconvienced. So Be It !!! There are 4000 reasons why. Its not revenge that we seek...

It is the freedom to live our lives in peace.

There have been too many funerals here in New York there is only one that we are waiting for.

I did see a feature today on MSNBC. It seem that allthough the Cubans realize that there island home has become the prison of some extremely nasty prisoners they have no fear of them. It seems that the area around that part of Cuba is heavily land mined.

I am sure the presence of so many land mines will make the prisoners feel right at home. And by now the beards are reqrowing.

Hmmm....I pondered this for a while, and in the end failed to see anything but way too much emotion and a lack of thinking. Somehow, we have forgotten that we have jails overcrowded with people who have done the same thing - but on smaller scales. Timothy McVeigh was treated like a king, as were John Gotti, JOhn Wilkes Booth, Hadden Clark, and so many other killers, serial rapists, spiess, and downright degenerates when they were under United States custody. I think that if Eddie Gein (the model for Norman Bates and Buffalo Bill) deserves the basic rights such as deciding that he wants to have his hair a certain way, then so should Taliban members. And hair grows back, but they see it as a bad sign to Allah if they don't have a beard. I don't know, but this is a fun arguement :argue:
