YODA Posted January 27, 2002 Posted January 27, 2002 Hmmm...... "Toughest" was the question, bot "Best" For best I would agree with Rickson. Toughest - I think Yuki Nakai has showed a LOT of toughness on several levels. Angus Posted January 29, 2002 Posted January 29, 2002 Rickson Gracie definately... There's no doubt about it. He's 10 times as good as his brother Carlos. Carlos even said that!! We've got a bloke in Australia who does Machado BJJ called John B.Will. He was one of the original 'dirty dozen' - the first 12 non-brazilian BJJ black belts in the world. I've been to a couple of his seminars and he's pretty good too! Angus Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
Punchdrunk Posted January 30, 2002 Posted January 30, 2002 No doubt Rickson is great. Top of his talented brood. BUUUT, I'm going for Shonie Carter, not only is he an outstanding ground fighter, witness him avoiding Matt Serra's many submission attempts in their UFC match, but he fights more styles against top competition than anyone out there- wrestling, judo, jujitsu, Pancrase, NHB, kickboxing, San Shou, Muay Thai, Shidokan - He's competed at high levels in all of them. Two years ago he fought in the UFC one night and flew all night to fight in a Shidokan tournament with a broken hand the following day. He's almost impossible to tap on the ground. Just triple damn tough. One cannot choose to be passive without the option to be aggressive.
AnonymousOne Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 How and why did you get to the ground in the first place? 7th Dan ChidokaiA true combat warrior has to be hard as nails in mind, body and soul. Warriors are action takers and not action fakers. If you are cruising, make time for losing

spinninggumby Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 To Whom It May Concern: You may not feel the 'need to make any statement to authenticate your credibility', but u sure do a good job of insinuating and hinting in all of your posts that you are ultra-bionic android-who-cannot-be-touched-by-any-mortal. Nobody here assumes that you are an uneducated street punk, please do not assume that of any of us here either. Likewise, nobody is Superman and free of error regardless of the amount or quality of training they've received. If you would like to think of yourself as Superman, that's fine. But don't expect that of everyone else here b/c uh, we just aren't as gifted as you. 'Conviction is a luxury for those on the sidelines'William Parcher, 'A BEAUTIFUL MIND'
