dippedappe Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Ever heard of the four "Wude". When you say it, it sounds more like Wudu, but is spelled Wude. Its Chinese and are supposed to be four attributes that a martial artist must posses. I have heard of it in an xbox game called "Shenmue 2", And was wondering if it really exists or if its just something from the game.
Shane Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Never heard of it A True Martial Arts Instructor is more of a guide than anything, on your way to developing the warrior within yourself!!!!!
Hudson Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Well... that was informative. Anyway, interestingly enough if you a do google search, one of the top hits is an artical on Martial Morality by Shou-Yu Liang (http://www.shouyuliang.com/newsletter/v3n1/v3n1a1.shtml) outside of that, all I got was Shenmue II. As it would seem, take away the "Four" and you get all sorts of interesting topics on "Martial Reality" The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.

Zhong Gau Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 are you sure it itsn't "wu dje" which would be something like 'attitude virtue' or 'ones's own mindfulness' or even 'right frame of mind' or 'correct perspective'. Speed, Power, Strength, Precision. there are actually seven attributes. Four of which must be honed, three are as virtues. "there are seven things that make God proud, three are your outlook four are your garments:" (from the Wisdom of Sirach) Ah! Mantis Grasshopper, i think you would do very nicely on a bowl of rice!
Hudson Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 Being that it's not actually an English word, both "wude" and "wu dje" would be acceptable if they're intended to be an english replacement for the same Chinese character(s). The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
Jbone1 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I think it was something they added to the game. I played that game and it was cool but I don't know about the Wude. "What's your style?""My style?""You can call it the art of fighting without fighting."
dippedappe Posted December 30, 2004 Author Posted December 30, 2004 I thought the Wude was a great philosophy, when I saw it in Shenmue. Much of what was in that website Hudson, was in the game to, if I remember right. I find the 3 of the Wude, to be something really good. "Righteousness is a way of life. Righteousness means that if there is something you should do, you don't hesitate to take care of it, and if there is something that you should not do, you don't get involved with it.". Shouldnt we act noble, when the stronger is hurting the weaker? We have a better chance of making it out whole, than others. So shouldnt we help if someone defenseless is attacked in the city? Like rape and that.
Hudson Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 I'd say it's most important to actively live for ANY ideal rather then just have the ideals and not take action. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
