kittehofdoom Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I'm currently practicing Tang Soo Do, and we don't actually learn weapon techniques, but the Do Jang is closing down for various reasons, and my brother dad and I are going to begin practicing Shotokan, which does teach sai at that particular Dojo, if anyone knows any tips on buying a set of sai, please tell me, like, what length is right and who makes good sais for a fair price, thnx for your help --Andrea "wisdom is something gained shortly after it is needed" Sah Bohm Nhim Jonathan Plyler 4th Dan

Kill Bill960 Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 Hey, the username belt dosent stand for how experienced you are, it stands for how many posts you have participated in or something like that I have been training with the sai for many years. The best way to size a sai is measure from the top of your index finger to half an inch past your elbow joint when you hold arm with your white side up. It ranges from each person. It dosent really matter weather you get octagonal or round, its just your personal preference. I train with both and they are both ok. kittehofdoom Posted December 18, 2004 Author Posted December 18, 2004 thnx, that's what I was really wanting to know "wisdom is something gained shortly after it is needed" Sah Bohm Nhim Jonathan Plyler 4th Dan
karatekaBR86 Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 Depends on your budget...You can get a reasonably cheap set on ebay or karatedpot, or awma of chrome (made of pot-steel) for around 30-40 dollars. Now if you are serious, then go with either weapons connection (energy sai of agena) or shureido...you cant go wrong with either
kittehofdoom Posted December 18, 2004 Author Posted December 18, 2004 I was wanting a set of shureido sai, but they're expensive, I wasnt something alot less expensive, but of good quality and durability that I can really use without having to buy a new pair every year or 2....
