Rock-fght
ok, Im not in a muay thia class but I think I have the kick down. but then I dont.. Can you guys give me a low down on how to do it. I know its hard to explain it in words but maby if everybody gives some advice mabey I can peice it together Mauy thi kick;I start at a kickboxing stance (left foot forward) step diagonaly with the left foot, toes pointing to the side I swing myleg in a wide ark with the leg at a 90+degree angle at this point my shoulders are already turning Next, my shoulders have turned pasted pointing at my target then the kick is annitiated and my base foot is on the toesShould I use my hip flexors to put more whack in it? Should I do it like a soccer player like when they like bend over when they kick and stuff? My fists are fire,My arms are brimstone,My legs are steel,My heart is the furnace. Shane
You should go and join a class and get instruction on proper technique, a lot of self taught practitioners build bad habits. Here is my pointers to you other than the go get an instructor. Make sure you roll that hip, and dont come up onto your toes on the rear foot, come up to the ball of the foot. You dont want to snap it, your going for power on this one so throw the kick from point A (the ground) to point B (the target) like your swinging a stick or bat, leave the snap out of it. Rock-fght
I dont get it. if i keep my leg straight through the whole kick that makes it look sloppy, slow, and it dosent seem very powerful. I do need an instrucktor. but I cant find one around Lakland FL. My fists are fire,My arms are brimstone,My legs are steel,My heart is the furnace. Shane
You really need someone to show you and explain it. You dont want to keep the leg straight, you need a slight bend at the knee, use the rolling of the hip just prior to impact to increase power by slamming your leg into your target and dont worry about how it looks. If you watch muay thai kicks compared to other styles, they dont look pretty, but thats not whats important its not about looking fancy like some of these snap kicks its about speed, power and pin-point accuracy. SevenStar
I don't think I'd call what you are talking about a chamber - that is just the natural bend in the leg when are propelling a fast, hard kick - it's not intentional, and therefore not a chamber. Also, notice that the leg doesn't re-chamber. If it were a chamber, it would have to re-chamber to be correct. Not everybody does it, either. Don't worry about looks. If your kick is slow, you need practice. You may be doing something wrong, or you may just be slow. This is why you need a teacher. How old are you? Rock-fght
15 yrs I think I know what your talking about now. the chamber is where you make impact then snap it back? that would make more sence to me.
